Cybersecurity is becoming less of a concern for chief information officers, according to Gartner. The technology research company surveyed 2,300 CIOs from across the world.

Security now ranks eighth on CIOs strategic priority lists. A drop from the number 1 spot a decade ago. Among CIOs in North America alone, security ranks slightly higher, coming in at number five on their priority lists.

One of the reasons for the shifting priorities the rise of the chief information security officer role within organizations. According to Gartner, CISOs have helped relieve CIOs of their cyber duties allowing them to concentrate on other issues.

Mobile, cloud computing and analytics are all higher priorities for CIOs than cybersecurity. Also on the list, according to the Wall Street Journal, infrastructure and data center investments.
