  • More than 700 employees have parted ways with the Environmental Protection Agency. A new report from the New York Times and ProPublica says that number includes more than 200 scientists, 96 environmental specialists and nine department directors. The employees left by quitting, retiring, or accepting buyouts offered. (New York Times)

 

  • A smaller amount of service members will receive the continental U.S. cost of living allowance in 2018. The Defense Department will be granting the ConUS COLA payments to 28,000 military members, down from about 35,000 this past year. It’s also eliminating 16 locations from eligibility which include Ocean City, Maryland, and West Point. (Department of Defense)

 

  • A U.S. Postal Worker receives eight years in prison for his role in a stolen identity tax refund scheme. The Justice Department says Harold Coley participated by providing a co-conspirator with fake addresses related to streets on his route. Coley will also have to pay the IRS back over $900,000. (Department of Justice)
