The Air Force celebrates the retirement of one of its own - doggie style.

Beside many good Airmen is a loyal and obedient military working dog. One Air Force base held its first official retirement ceremony for a dog last month. Since 2010, Dexter, a German Shepard, has saved the lives of thousands of Airmen by assisting with patrol and explosives detection. Dexter’s handler, Staff Sergeant Alexandra Springman, who is stationed at Arizona’s Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, discussed Dexter’s retirement with Tom Temin and Emily Kopp on The Federal Drive.
