April 8, 2014 — Today’s guests on “Federal Tech Talk”, are Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, CEO, and John Keefauver, vice president of Application Solutions at Astadia.
Ever since Vivek Kundra’s 25 Point Play back in 2010, the federal government has been strongly encouraging agencies to make the transition to the cloud.
Astadia has been in business since 1985 and was one of the first companies to focus on the cloud in 2002.
Currently, they have over 2,000 clients all over the world and have a tremendous amount of experience in transitioning systems to the cloud.
The reason they are in the studio is to give federal information professionals a sounding board for some of the frustrations they have in making a change.
During the interview John Keefauver talks about some challenges in commercial organizations – like trying to retain trained people and having questions about security in the cloud.
The interview covers topics like hybrid clouds, virtual desktops, and comparing service models like Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Infrastructure as a service.
Astadia has experience with the popular vendor Salesforce and describes how federal agencies can choose between what kind of cloud deployments may be appropriate for their needs.
