Hotbed of critical cyber thinking emerges

A UMBC research park emerges as front line of defense in Cyberwars.

In the last year, more than a dozen cybersecurity companies have moved into a research park near the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The SevernaParkPatch reports some are calling it a “cyberhive.” It is a swarm of activity among the country’s most innovative thinkers in internet security as they work to counter threats against the nation’s digital networks. The region is becoming the center for cybersecurity, because start-ups can work closely with larger defense contractors to come up with new technologies for CyberCommand or the National Security Agency.
