Before the Social Security Administration instituted its “fast track system,” people with serious medical conditions had to wait months or years to receive approval for Social Security disability benefits.
Now they only have to wait days or weeks.
Diane Braunstein is the associate commissioner of the Social Security Administration’s Office of International Programs. She led the “fast track program” team, and that work has made her a Service to America (Sammies) finalist in the citizens services category.
