Reporters’ Roundup: DoD’s strategic management, Army email, Latina feds

• The Defense Department will release a new strategic management plan later this month.The strategy will detail how the military services and DoD agencies plan to save and reprogram $100 billion over the next five years. Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller brings us a sneak preview of the management plan.
• The nation’s biggest minority group is finding it hard to work for the government. Latinos are eight percent of the civilian federal workforce, compared with 15 percent in the private sector. Federal News Radio’s Emily Kopp has the story.
• Starting today, the Army will cautiously edge its way back into its migration to a cloud-based enterprise email system. They took a month off from the transition to fix some pretty serious network issues. Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu talked with Mike Krieger, the Army’s deputy chief information officer about the status of the massive project. In part one of our interview, Krieger talks about how the transition to a new email system forced the service to not only clean up its network…but fix many of its business processes.
