Ten years after 9/11 the Homeland Security Department is still growing into its mission.

The Government Accountability Office has worked with the department to help implement its homeland security missions, often by drawing attention to areas the agency still needs to work on.

Earlier this week, GAO released a report marking the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, which were the impetus for the creation of the super-department.

That report found DHS has made significant strides, but is still hampered by unresolved issues.

Cathy Berrick, the managing director for homeland security and justice issues at GAO, joined the Federal Drive to discuss the latest progress report on the agency.
