Education hired its first-ever chief privacy officer to make it happen.

SC Magazine reports Kathleen Styles was fomerly the Office of Analysts and Executive Support at the Census Bureau.

In her first couple of weeks Styles will be implementing privacy precautions such as minimizing the collection of personal information.

The the proposed changes would help better protect the privacy of student education records.
