Right now 4 percent of employers around the country are using Social Security and Homeland Security’s E-Verify program.

This interagency project is an internet based system that verifies work eligibility.

Philip Wolgrin, an immigration policy analyst at The Center for American Progress, wrote that E-Verify presents “onerous and expensive challenges.”
