  • Applications from 70,000 federal job seekers are gone. The applications disappeared during an outage at usa jobs dot gov. Federal Times reports some agencies are extending their vacancy periods to give job seekers time to apply again.
  • Buyouts and early outs may be just the beginning of the changes at the GAO. The agency says it’s working on a study of its field office structure, and they’ve proposed changes to layoff guidelines. Federal Times reports GAO says the field office study should be finished in mid-September.
  • General Dynamics is buying Vangent for $960 million. Both companies have approved the deal, and expect it to close by October first. Vangent’s biggest Federal customers are Health and Human Services; Education; Labor; State; and Defense.
