Art therapy opens up soldier’s creativity

Army Staff Sgt. Jonathan K. Meadows discovers his artistic voice while recovering from a traumatic brain injury.

Art Therapy Art therapy plays a part in the physical, emotional and mental rehabilitation of wounded warriors recovering from injuries they received during their military service. To highlight the creative work of some of these artists, the Pentagon hosted the Warrior Care Month Art Expo on Nov. 20.

This gallery features the work of one of those artists, Army Staff Sgt. Jonathan K. Meadows, who is stationed with the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Before Meadows began art therapy, he had never shown any interest in creating artwork.
