Transportation Security Administration agents discovered 2,653 firearms in carry-on bags at checkpoints last year.
2015 was a busy year for the Transportation Security Administration. According to a recent TSA blog post, agents screened 708,316,339 passengers, which was 40,780,330 more than it did in 2014.
Agents also discovered 2,653 firearms in carry-on bags at TSA airport checkpoints across the country, which was a 20 percent increase over last year. Of those firearms, 2,198 or 83 percent were loaded.
