Now, he isn’t saying “don’t do social media.” What DHS Chief Information Officer Richard Spires is saying, is that social network access within government networks has some serious security implications. The Homeland Security CIO was speaking at the ACT-IAC Executive Leadership Conference. FierceGovernment IT reports that Spires explained how federal managers aren’t worried that their employees will waste time on Facebook or Twitter. He says those private sector sites, accessed from within government networks, could mean increased cybersecurity risks to agencies.
