October 28, 2014 — This week on “Federal Tech Talk”, Nick Urick of FireEye is in the studio to talk about advances in cybersecurity for federal agencies.
Many security companies have divisions called “labs” but none are as active as FireEye. In fact, many security news stories include the phrase, “FireEye detected” as part of the first sentence.
During the interview, Urick expands upon the nature of the company. Many listeners may not recognize the California-based FireEye, but would readily know the name Mandiant. In 2013 FireEye acquired the local company Mandiant for over one billion in cash.
This means that federal agencies can take advantage of the top minds in civilian cybersecurity and apply it to federal problems.
Listen to the interview in order to get a better perspective on threat prevention platforms. Today’s threats may not conform to the traditional signature/response formula.
FireEye is a leader in today’s world of zero day attacks that need automated threat forensics in order to detect.
