Lawmakers passed the 2016 omnibus spending bill with an increase to mass transit benefits for federal employees.

According to a notice from the IRS, the retroactive benefits application increases commuter highway vehicle and any transit passes from $130 per participating employee to $250 per participating employee from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2015. For 2016, the monthly exclusion is $255.
