Performance Council looking for new director; NASA gets a CISO

After more than 2 1/2 years working for the Performance Improvement Council, Kate Josephs is leaving not just government, but the country too.

Josephs, who is originally from the United Kingdom, is heading back home after working for the U.S. federal government since January 2014.

She spent the last 19 months as the executive director of the Performance Improvement Council (PIC).

In returning to England, Josephs will take on a new role as Director of National Operations in the UK Department for Education.

Her last day is July 31.

During her time with the PIC, first as a senior adviser, Josephs led the implementation of the cross-agency priority goals. She also oversaw the effort to educate and train agencies on performance management principles.

One of the PIC’s main education efforts was in collaboration with the Chief Human Capital Officer Council on a pilot program to train managers based on the Google effort called Project Oxygen.

It’s unclear who will replace Josephs at head of the PIC.

While Josephs is leaving, NASA is getting a new chief information security officer.

Sources say Jeanette Hanna-Ruiz is coming back to government for a fourth stint.

Hanna-Ruiz worked for the Transportation Security Administration, the Homeland Security Department’s National Protection and Programs Directorate and the Federal Transit Administration. She also had a detail with the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee from 2009 to 2011.

In between her time in government, Hanna-Ruiz worked for Microsoft and CSC in cyber roles.

She replaces Valarie Burks, who left last August after spending almost five years at NASA. Rob Binkley, NASA’s has been acting CISO since Burks left.
