Apple hires former Navy cryptologist

A former Navy Cryptology officer is joining the ranks of Apple. Computer Business Review reports that David Rice, who also served as a Global Network Vulnerability analyst for the National Security Agency, will become Apple’s global security director, specializing in cybersecurity. Rice is the author of “Geekonomics: The Real Cost of Insecure Software”, which explains how computer vulnerabilities represent a genuine threat to the U.S. infrastructure. He is expected to take charge in March and work on pushing Apple into the enterprise market. Apple has not confirmed that they’ve hired Rice.
