Army may do away with car decals offering entry to bases
The Army says it could soon do away with the car decals that allow people through the security checkpoint when they drive on base.
Stickers to get you on a military base could soon be a thing of the past, Army.mil reports.
The Army says it could soon do away with the car decals that allow people through the security checkpoint when they drive on base.
The Army said the decals only offer a false sense of security. Most gates have information technology systems in place that flag cars that don’t belong. Doing away with the decals would save about a quarter million dollars a year…a little more than a million dollars over five years.
Still, base commanders reserve the right to keep the post registration and decal system in place if they think it in the best interest of their communities.
